EFP NY performed at the HCC gala

Estampas Folkloricas Peru, EFP NY, performed on Saturday, April 21, at the gala organized by the Hispanic Cultural Center, HCC, of Oyster Bay, East Norwich and Vicinities in celebration of its 15th anniversary.

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay, East Norwich & Vicinities, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in the hamlet of Oyster Bay, celebrated its incorporation as an organization dedicated to helping the local immigrant population integrate into the community through educational and civic minded programs.   

Peruvian traditional dances are famous for the colorfulness of their costumes. 
During the event, EFP NY presented three beautiful folklore dances from the mountain areas, specifically from the states of Puno and Cuzco. Public enjoyed the dancers’ strength and agility in “La Tuntuna,” an African-Peruvian dance from a territory known as El Altiplano, in the state of Puno. People also enjoyed the colorful costumes of men and women in a dance called “Tupay,” a Peruvian native language word, which means encounter between men and women.

Estampas Folkloricas Perú is a nonprofit organization whose main goal is to preserve, promote, and diffuse Peruvian folklore and cultural manifestations through dance and music. Its repertoire includes traditional dances from the different regions of Peru, including the coast, the mountain areas and the jungle.

Presentación con el Centro Cultural Hispano de Oyster Bay

Estampas Foklóricas Perú de New York, EFP NY, se presentó el sábado 21 de abril en la gala organizada por el Centro Cultural Hispano, CCH, de Oyster Bay, East Norwich y vecindarios que celebró sus 15 años de vida institucional.

El evento le sirvió al CCH, para recaudar fondos y a su vez para brindar información a la comunidad acerca de los programas que ofrecen. El CCH se dedica a ayudar a la población inmigrante de la localidad para que se integren a la comunidad a través de programas cívicos y educativos.

La participación de EFP NY, consistió en la presentación de tres hermosas estampas foklóricas: El Carnaval de Arapa, del departamento de Puno, la Tuntuna, también de Puno, y Tupay Carnavales del departamento del Cuzco.

Las danzas de los andes peruanos resaltan por el colorido de sus vestuarios.
El público asistente al evento, entre los que resaltaban familias hispanas inmigrantes así como estadounidenses, se deleitó del hermoso colorido de los vestuarios de danzas de los andes peruanos y aprendió un poco más sobre la diversidad cultural del Perú.

EFP NY es una organización sin fines de lucro que se dedica a la preservación, fomento y difusión del folklore peruano a través de la danza y la música. Su repertorio incluye danzas costumbristas de las distintas regiones del Perú.

EFP NY at the San Juanito Feast

Some members of EFP NY went to the San Juanito Feast to support our friend Carlos Toalongo, also a dancer of the Ecuadorian dance group, Ecuador Sumaq Llacta. The event was organized by the Ecuadorian Cultural Center Ayazamana, and took place at the St. Patrick's Church of Long Island City, in Queens, on Sunday, April 15. 

Performances also included other Ecuadorian dance groups such as Inti Pakary, Ñaupa Mashikuna, and Yachak Kallary and the music group Inti Andino.

Estampas Folklkoricas Peru to perform at the Centro Cultural Hispano of Oyster Bay on Saturday, April 21.

This year the 15th Annual Hispanic Cultural Center dinner will showcase three performances by Estampas Folkloricas Peru. Estampas Folkloricas Perú is a nonprofit organization whose main goal is to preserve, promote, and diffuse Peruvian folklore and cultural manifestations through dance and music. Its repertoire includes traditional dances from the different regions of Peru, including the coast, the mountain areas and the jungle.
Most members of the dance group are students from colleges, universities and schools districts in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York City.

The dinner will also be highlighting a very special performance by one of the young members of the CCH’s C.AR.E. and youth group.
The dinner will be held at St. Dominic Church’s Social Room – between Anstice Street and Weeks Avenue in Oyster Bay on Saturday, April 21, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. 
About the HCC
The Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay, East Norwich & Vicinities, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in the hamlet of Oyster Bay, will celebrate its incorporation as an organization dedicated to helping the local immigrant population integrate into the community through educational and civic minded programs.  
The Estampas Folkloricas Peru ensemble dressed in their Pacasito costume.
Their current programs include Care After-School Resource for Education (C.A.R.E.), an after school program for children who come from homes where the parents first language is not English and therefore can’t help their children with homework; English as a second language classes for adults; a youth program that aims to keep adolescents involved through organizing and participating in positive community events; Community Integration Time Exchange (C.I.T.E.) a volunteer minded program, and Mundo Artesanal Piñatas (an economic development initiative).

Dinner after practice

Some EFP 2012 members went for dinner at El Anzuelo Fino restaurant after practice last Friday. We welcomed two new members that night, Luz Checalla and Martin Loyaga.

Rosita Salas "La Alondra Peruana" presentará concierto en mayo

Rosita Salas "La Alondra Peruana," gran cantante del género vernacular de la región Junín y fundadora y directora general del grupo de danzas Estampas Folklóricas Perú, de Lima, Perú, ofrecerá un espectacular recital de música, danzas y canciones el próximo viernes 4 de mayo en el Auditorio Derrama Magisterial de Jesús María.

Entre los invitados especiales se encuentran los intérpretes Mao Cuyabamba, Jilguero Muquiyauyino, la orquesta típica Selección del Centro y por supuesto el elenco de danzas de Estampas Folklóricas, de Lima.
