Estampas Folkloricas Peru, EFP NY, performed on Saturday, April 21, at the gala organized by the Hispanic Cultural Center, HCC, of Oyster Bay, East Norwich and Vicinities in celebration of its 15th anniversary.

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay, East Norwich & Vicinities, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in the hamlet of Oyster Bay, celebrated its incorporation as an organization dedicated to helping the local immigrant population integrate into the community through educational and civic minded programs.

Peruvian traditional dances are famous for the colorfulness of their costumes.
During the event, EFP NY presented three beautiful folklore dances from the mountain areas, specifically from the states of Puno and Cuzco. Public enjoyed the dancers’ strength and agility in “La Tuntuna,” an African-Peruvian dance from a territory known as El Altiplano, in the state of Puno. People also enjoyed the colorful costumes of men and women in a dance called “Tupay,” a Peruvian native language word, which means encounter between men and women.

Estampas Folkloricas Perú is a nonprofit organization whose main goal is to preserve, promote, and diffuse Peruvian folklore and cultural manifestations through dance and music. Its repertoire includes traditional dances from the different regions of Peru, including the coast, the mountain areas and the jungle.
