This year the 15th Annual Hispanic Cultural Center dinner will showcase three performances by Estampas Folkloricas Peru. Estampas Folkloricas Perú is a nonprofit organization whose main goal is to preserve, promote, and diffuse Peruvian folklore and cultural manifestations through dance and music. Its repertoire includes traditional dances from the different regions of Peru, including the coast, the mountain areas and the jungle.

Most members of the dance group are students from colleges, universities and schools districts in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York City.

The dinner will also be highlighting a very special performance by one of the young members of the CCH’s C.AR.E. and youth group.

The dinner will be held at St. Dominic Church’s Social Room – between Anstice Street and Weeks Avenue in Oyster Bay on Saturday, April 21, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. 

About the HCC

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay, East Norwich & Vicinities, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in the hamlet of Oyster Bay, will celebrate its incorporation as an organization dedicated to helping the local immigrant population integrate into the community through educational and civic minded programs.  

The Estampas Folkloricas Peru ensemble dressed in their Pacasito costume.

Their current programs include Care After-School Resource for Education (C.A.R.E.), an after school program for children who come from homes where the parents first language is not English and therefore can’t help their children with homework; English as a second language classes for adults; a youth program that aims to keep adolescents involved through organizing and participating in positive community events; Community Integration Time Exchange (C.I.T.E.) a volunteer minded program, and Mundo Artesanal Piñatas (an economic development initiative).

They also help with document translations, filling applications, housing problems, citizenship classes, workshops and seminars, referral services to lawyers, doctors and other agencies. To RSVP, please contact them at 558-7020 or email  cchcite@aol.com.
